« […] between musicians and audience in a time of noble silence and deep breathing. »
« […] entre les musiciens et le public dans un moment de silence et de respiration profonds. »
Description

'Time of Trees I' is the first piece of a new cycle of works for choreographic finger gestures of two pianists.
The series attempts to integrate a number of "environmental'' parameters. Scenic space may be moved and stretched. Thought and intervention of light also takes a primary character. The shadow-light fleets, suspends and features time in a time-period designed by each human being. The "inner" light of the scenic space is reflected on the sensitive outer space.
The work evokes two key concepts that lead to a perception of listening and seeing between musicians and audience in a time of noble silence and deep breathing.
Using a classical notation, every detail of gesture (e.g., nuance, articulation) is precisely notated and is accompanied with shadows, single, doubled, or tripled, reflected in each unique time-space.
[LIAO Lin-ni]
• Premiered on 28 February 2017 during Unerhört Musik festival – BKA-Theater Berlin, Germany by Jennifer Hymer & Bernhard Fograscher
• Dedicated to Laurent Durupt & Trami Nguyen
• Special thanks to Jennifer Hymer
Only 1 piano required,
