Description

Maybe it's useful to know how to say things simply; with a written letter.

Maybe there's also a way for the performer and composer to communicate with one another directly, sincerely, without embellishment, without (or almost without) grammar. If this simplicity were transposable, the performer would become an unadorned messenger. Relieved of what all too often creates a wall between audience and musician, they could address to each and every person a message of sound and paper.

Like all sketches, this letter is nothing but contours, ideas, feelings which are hidden by the lines like timid reminders of the original touch. This sketch is small in form, a humble musical offering. A direct action, if I may say so.

About

1974 – *

Espousing a sensitive approach to his art, the music of Colin Roche unscrupulously favors fragility. He approaches every piece with the thought process of a visual artist made apparent through the use of instruments. Detail to timing, things and events becomes obsessional.

1974 – *
