« I recorded what was going on.
What was or wasn’t going on, in fact. »

Description
fr

The title unambiguously states that self-portraiture is at the heart of this piece. As for the subtitle, which means “sound painting”, it indicates an approach close to Hyperrealist pain-ting. Musically, the piece is illustrated by compositions dating back to the 1980s and 1990s, as a counterpoint to the realism of the situations. The words and conversations seek to circumscribe this autobiographical situation by introducing a distancing effect, thus keeping the feeling of narcissism at bay. The idea is to show that autobiography, used as a tool, isn’t meant to boost one’s ego but on the contrary, starting from a sensitive subjectivity, it can depict what lies outside oneself.
[Luc Ferrari]
[Luc Ferrari]

About
fr
1929 – 2005

Never ceasing to investigate, Luc Ferrari leaves behind a body of work by turns exalting, noble, funny, intimate, and nocturnal. Like a mirror turned toward the Other, it reflects the world and its fantasies.

He had a weakness for women with accents.

Find the near-complete catalogue of his mixed music and sonic pieces at Maison ONA — about 150 works released over time.
1929 – 2005
